Playtesting with your children
This section outlines the specific use of information collected from child playtesters.
If you're looking for a child-friendly summary of this section, please see our Kids Privacy Policy.
What information do we collect from children?
Parents can add a child to their account by providing the child’s first name, gender, date of birth, and their favorite games. The child’s first name is not shared with PlaytestCloud’s clients. We use gender and date of birth along with some of your child’s favourite games to help us provide your child with appropriate games for testing.
When you complete a playtest with your child, the game developers will be able to see their gender, age (but not the date of birth), list of games your child likes to play as well as have access to gameplay and voice recordings. The gameplay recording contains everything displayed on screen during the playtest, which could include any text such as messages, and images and videos from the device camera.
After taking part in a playtest you and your child may be asked to take part in a survey. These survey results will be shared with the game developer for research purposes. You may also be invited to take part in an interview with your child to provide feedback on the development of a game. This interview might be recorded and would be used by the game developer to understand your child’s feedback from the game, it may be shared with other people involved in development of the game within their company or be shared with third parties for research purposes. It will not be made public.
Some tests may require you to download our separate recording app called PlaytestCloud: Be a Playtester. Some of the game tests use this application to record the gameplay and feedback that you’re giving when participating in the test.
The recording app is distributed through the Apple App Store (and the Google Play Store). You can review the privacy policy of the Apple here (and of Google here).
If you are a parent and would like to review or delete the information you have provided about your child or if you have any questions about the information collected please email us at help@playtestcloud.com or login and edit your profile.
If a parent in the United States, UK or European Union opts to add a child, they will be asked to provide full verifiable parental consent by providing some of the following information that will be used to verify their identity:
• A social security number, driver’s license number or other form of government ID
• A signed consent form
• A credit card number or details for another online payment system (PayPal)
PlaytestCloud partners with PRIVO, a leading privacy solutions expert as well as an FTC approved COPPA Safe Harbor, to obtain full verifiable parental consent. All information collected for verification is stored securely and not used for any other purpose. For more information on PRIVO please see here: https://www.privo.com/platform-privacy-policy.

AWS does not share or use the transcription results or the audio for any other purpose. PlaytestCloud shares the transcription results with our game studio clients, as part of the playtesting process and to assist in providing insights about the child’s use of the game. Please review the AWS privacy policy for more information about their collection and use practices: https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/
Transcripts of playtester feedback may be analyzed and summarized with OpenAI's AI services to help game developers quickly spot issues with their game using artificial intelligence (meaning, OpenAI may analyze the transcript that we get from Google Cloud or AWS). We don't share playtesters audio with OpenAI and don't submit playtester personal data to them, but if playtesters speak about personal things while testing the game, OpenAI may receive this information. OpenAI will delete the data we send them within 30 days and won't use the transcript or other data we send them for any purpose other than delivering services to us. We have not opted in to "share data" with OpenAI. Please review OpenAI's API data use policy for more information: https://openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies
Our clients, the game studios, may provide apps for testing that include third party service providers that may include tracking links.
